A
word to our Clients:
We
are located just a skipping stone away from "The Portal."
The
Portal is where water from the Scoharie Creek enters the Esopus
Creek... after flowing through a huge underground aquaduct. The
water then flows to the Ashokan reservoir and on to provide for
the needs of of over ten million people in the greater New York
City Metropolitan area.
I
like to name our links page after "The Portal" to remind
our clients how important it is to support small, green, eco-friendly
businesses in the NYC watershed. We must protect and cherish our
pure clean water and pristine Catskill forest wilderness. Large
scale terrain altering development like the proposed
Belleayre Resort, and shopping malls like the grotesquely
elongated Emerson Plaza Shopping Tunnel
are almost as destructive to our area as smokestack
industry, or vast subdivisions of dense
housing. When you stay at a charming B&B like the Phoenicia
Belle, or hire any one of our many fine small local businesses,
you help protect the environment and the charming country character
of the Catskill high peaks.
Thanks!
